Welcome...

Welcome to my world! My name is Sherry Bennett of Rochester, New York. I have lived in Rochester since 1974. I was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, where I graduated from Escambia High School, Class of 1966. In 1970, I graduated from Mississippi University for Women, in Columbus.

I am an active member of the Asbury First United Methodist Church. I believe that life is an adventure. My philosophy of life is “when you’ve reached the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.” That simple backyard philosophy has taken me to new heights and molded me into the person I am today

When I decided to do a personal website in 2002, I envisioned it to be an online scrapbook where my friends and relatives all over the country could enjoy looking at pictures, old and new, and remember fond memories from the past as well as catch up on what’s new in my life. It never occurred to me, through the technology of internet search engines, that total strangers would find their way to my site, or even care about spending time here. This site gets over 500 visits a month from people all over the world. Occasionally, I get e-mails from people who have visited Sherry’s World. One woman wrote that she had lost a recipe for sweet and sour beef balls that her family had enjoyed for years. She had searched everywhere to find it. Then she found it on my website. Another person wrote that he had been to Wanika Falls back in the 80’s but didn’t take any pictures. He appreciated seeing my pictures of it and the trail leading to it.

I am often asked if I constructed the website. I wrote all the text, chose the content and many of the pictures here were taken by me. Credit for the design and construction must go to my web designer, Jeph Remley (www.jephersmedia.com). I really enjoyed the development of the website. I told Jeph what I wanted to do, the image I wanted to project, and he went to work. He gave me several design ideas to look at and then we came up with a format that I felt was uniquely “me”! I update the site two or three times a year, so stop back again. . . you never know what you will find! Take you time, enjoy the photos and recipes and let me know your thoughts on my site.
